Focus and Scope

Argumentos (ISSN 1021-2760 [print] / ISSN 2076-7722 [online]) is an academic journal published by the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP), specializing in the social sciences. Its primary objective is to disseminate original research that contributes to critical analysis and scholarly debate on social, political, economic, and cultural issues in Peru and Latin America.

The journal seeks to contribute to the development of knowledge in the social sciences by promoting critical reflection and interdisciplinary dialogue on historical and contemporary issues of regional relevance.

Its thematic scope covers the various fields of the social sciences, with particular attention to those linked to the institutional life of the IEP: anthropology, archaeology, political science, economics, education, history, and sociology. In addition to research articles, Argumentos publishes book reviews and thesis abstracts.

The journal is addressed to the academic community—including researchers, faculty members, professionals, and students—interested in the social sciences. It is an open-access and free publication: it does not charge submission, processing, or publication fees, nor does it charge for access to its contents.

All manuscripts are evaluated through a double-blind peer review process. Argumentos is published semiannually, in July and December.
