Ethics and Good Editorial Practices Policy
Argumentos adheres to international standards of ethics in academic publishing and follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal is committed to promoting research integrity, transparency in editorial processes, and adherence to best practices in scholarly publishing.
Authorship
In accordance with the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), authorship is limited to those who have made a substantial contribution to the research and the preparation of the manuscript. This includes:
a) significant participation in the conception and design of the study or in data analysis;
b) drafting the manuscript or critically revising its intellectual content;
c) approval of the final version of the manuscript;
d) accountability for all aspects of the work.
All four criteria must be met. The journal may request a statement specifying individual contributions and may publish this information when deemed appropriate.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any relationships or interests that could influence the interpretation of their results (financial, personal, academic, or otherwise). This information will be included in the final published version of the article.
Originality and Exclusive Submission
Manuscripts submitted to Argumentos must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal or publication. Failure to comply with this requirement constitutes a serious breach of publication ethics.
Use of Sources and Third-Party Material
All use of quotations, ideas, or materials from third parties must be properly cited in accordance with the journal’s referencing guidelines. Cases of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or improper use of sources will result in appropriate editorial action. For further details, see the journal’s plagiarism policy.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The journal does not accept manuscripts generated wholly or partially by artificial intelligence tools as authorship or co-authorship.
The use of AI tools as support in the research or writing process must be transparently disclosed by the authors. In all cases, authors remain fully responsible for the content of the manuscript.
Corrections, Retractions, and Article Withdrawal
If errors, malpractice, or ethical breaches are identified in manuscripts under review or in published articles, the journal may take the following actions, depending on the nature of the case:
Corrections: issued when identified errors do not substantially affect the results or conclusions of the article.
Retractions: issued when serious errors compromise the results or conclusions, or when ethical misconduct is confirmed, including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, undisclosed conflicts of interest, irregularities in the editorial process, or simultaneous submission to more than one journal.
Retractions will be preceded by an editorial evaluation process. Retracted articles will remain accessible on the journal’s platform, clearly identified as such, and accompanied by an editorial note explaining the reasons for the decision.
Article Withdrawal: applied in exceptional cases where legal or ethical considerations require the removal of content. In such cases, the article’s metadata will be retained, and the original content will be replaced with an editorial notice.
