Children born as a result of wartime sexual violence are one of the "living legacies" of the atrocity. This book begins by discussing the context of tensions and emotions that mark the relationship between these children and their mothers in rural post-conflict communities. The author begins with this perspective to describe—using ethnographic data from her work in Peru and Colombia—the social connections between violence, ecology, and language, and to show what these connections tell us about the limits of the reparation policies that States implement on behalf of victims of war.Downloads
