The illegitimacy of political power in Peru

Review of the book by Jorge Aragón and Diego Sánchez (IEP, 2023)

Keywords: Political power, Peru

Abstract

"The Illegitimacy of Political Power in Peru" is a highly suggestive title amid the current complex political landscape. According to Ipsos Peru, as of June 2024, President Dina Boluarte enjoys only 6% popular approval, while the Congress of the Republic only has 9% support nationwide. For this reason, Jorge Aragón and Diego Sánchez set out to analyze the factors behind such a poor reputation of political authorities in Peru.
