Review Formats

"Arguments" provides peer reviewers with an evaluation form appropriate to the nature of the manuscript (to learn what types of work receive peer review, please review the Section Policy).

The form includes a series of metrics regarding certain criteria considered fundamental for evaluation. The criteria considered are the following:

  • Relevance of the topic and originality with respect to the literature
  • Soundness of the theoretical framework and use of an up-to-date bibliography
  • Coherence of the line of argument that includes the hypothesis, evidence, and conclusions
  • Rigor of the method used
  • Clarity of language
  • Editorial rigor

A reviewer's evaluation is considered favorable for publication if the total score awarded to the manuscript on the evaluation form exceeds two-thirds of the maximum possible score.
