Argumentos provides peer reviewers with an evaluation form designed in accordance with the nature of the manuscript under review (see Section Policies for information on the types of contributions that undergo peer review).

The evaluation form includes a set of criteria considered fundamental for assessing the academic quality of the manuscript. These include:

  • the relevance and originality of the topic in relation to the existing literature;
  • the soundness of the theoretical framework and the use of relevant and up-to-date bibliography;
  • the coherence of the argumentative line between hypotheses, evidence, and conclusions;
  • the rigor of the methodology employed;
  • the clarity and precision of the language;
  • the editorial rigor of the text.

The form also includes spaces for comments addressed to the author and to the editor, as well as the possibility of attaching files with observations or suggestions made directly on the manuscript.

A reviewer’s evaluation is considered favorable for publication when the total score assigned to the manuscript exceeds two-thirds of the maximum possible score established in the evaluation form.

Regardless of the outcome of the review, reviewers are required to complete the form with comments and suggestions aimed at improving the quality of the manuscript. The editor will forward the corresponding reports and observations to the author, duly anonymized.
