Anti-Plagiarism Policy

Argumentos maintains a zero-tolerance policy against plagiarism. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical conduct and is unacceptable. Consequently, any manuscript found to be plagiarized will be deleted and not considered for publication.

In this regard, the journal will reject papers that constitute or include examples of:

Plagiarism: This involves presenting words, phrases, ideas, images, charts, music, among others, creating the impression that they are the work of the author(s) of the article when they are not, or without providing the corresponding credits to the true author(s). Authors are reminded that, in the case of literal quotations, the corresponding credits always include three elements: (a) quotation marks; (b) a reference to the original source; (c) the page number (or paragraph, section, location, etc.) where the quoted fragment can be found. The absence of even one of these elements is sufficient to consider plagiarism to exist.

Self-plagiarism: This refers to the unlawful presentation, in a new manuscript, of fragments or passages taken verbatim from one or more previous publications by one of the authors, regardless of whether the original publications were published in an academic medium or not. Self-plagiarism also includes texts originally written in a language other than that of the new manuscript. There are some cases, however, in which the reproduction of fragments of previously published material may be justified (for example, some sections of the methodology in a replication study). For more information on the legality of this type of case, we refer authors to sections 1 and 8 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (4th edition in Spanish).

Duplicate publication: This refers to publishing as a new text a complete text that has already been published (for example, in another journal, as a book chapter, in another language, on a blog, etc.). While self-plagiarism refers to the fact that some fragments of the new manuscript have already been published, a duplicate publication refers to the entire work. Likewise, when authors use the work or words of others, they must properly cite them.

The originality of all work must be verified using the anti-plagiarism software Viber and Plag.es, as well as other specialized plagiarism detection programs.

In addition, the authors must sign a letter of declaration of originality and assignment of property rights in accordance with the following format:
